Josh Brolin as the badass title character in JONAH HEX is ingenious casting, and brings the flick to a whole new level, considering the guy’s getting to be an Academy Awards regular these days. Which is funny, because when I think of Brolin, I think of THE GOONIES, HOLLOW MAN, and PLANET TERROR, all great films but not your usual Oscar fare.
Anyway, JONAH HEX. It’s coming. And now it has an official release date. Drumroll please…. August 6, 2010! That’s right, it’s gonna be a late summer entry, just when you thought the summer is over, Brolin busts out with HEX to prove you wrong. Kick ass!
Directed by Jimmy Hayward and co-starring John Malkovich as Tumbull, the details as to what JONAH HEX is still unknown, other than it’s about the adventures of a Wild West bounty hunter in the Wild West whose horrifically scarred face and personality hide his honorable nature. Of course, that description doesn’t mention his ties with the supernatural and the horrors he has to battle, so it should be interesting to see where they take this thing.
