Hideo Kojima and Junji Ito may be teaming up for a new horror game!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Junji Ito is one of the premiere horror manga artists, especially when it comes crossover appeal in North America. There's, of course, his seminal works TOMI, UZAMKI, and GYO – among others – each containing his distinct and nightmarish imagery. Now it seems he may be working on Hideo Kojima's newest videogame project, which has been rumored to be a horror game. Here's what Ito said during a Comic-Con interview:

I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he may have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet.

Sounds awesome to me! Hell, he apparently was working with Kojima and Guillermo del Toro on the famously cancelled SILENT HILLS game, so it would be doubly-awesome to have those two team up again! Hopefully more details will be coming soon!

Meanwhile, Junji Ito has a live-action Americanized adaptation of his graphic novel series TOMIE coming to Quibi (if Quibi still exists by then) starring Adeline Rudolph (CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA) and directed by Alexandre Aja (CRAWL). Here's the official synopsis of that:

Tomie is the story of what happens when a beautiful high school girl goes missing and pieces of her body are discovered scattered around a small town. But what starts out as a murder mystery turns into something even more horrific.

And Kojima is still hard at work on his secret project, while his most recent epic game – DEATH STRANDING – has recently arrived on PC.

So what do you guys think? Excited to see these two master artists work together? Either way, sound off below!
