Hodder as Gein

Fangoria learned some interesting news today, and I couldn’t be any happier. It appears as though Kane Hodder, yes he of Jason Voorhees fame, will be playing a different type of serial killer- this time, the one who started it all. In ED GEIN: THE BUTCHER OF PLAINFIELD, Hodder will be playing Ed Gein himself, and we all jump for joy because Hodder is the man when it comes to playing menacing psychopaths.


Written/directed by Michael Feifer (THE GRAVEYARD), this straight to DVD entry will also star Michael Berryman and Priscilla Barnes, who both starred together in THE DEVIL’S REJECTS. Here’s what Feifer had to say regarding his thoughts on Hodder playing Gein:

“Kane was really excited about the part, because it’s the first time he’s had the opportunity to really show what he can do without the [Jason] mask.”


It’s about time too! And I have a feeling us loyal fans will enjoy seeing him kill… with his face in full view. I’m a little bummed that it’s already slated as a direct to DVD feature, but then again- that seems to be where all self titled Ed Gein flicks end up. At least Lionsgate has plans on releasing it, with a prospective date sometime in February.
