We last told you about Guillermo del Toro’s DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK back in March. At the time it seemed like the movie was on the fast track with a May start date! Well… it seems we’re on the right track!
Variety have word on who will be stepping in to star in DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK and the choice is pretty surprising: Katie Holmes! Yes, it seems Mrs. Cruise will be stepping into our genre to tackle del Toro’s DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK reboot. Wait… Katie Holmes in a dark del Toro thriller? I’m sorry… I just can’t see that. But del Toro is a proven genius so the guy must have something up his sleeve, so I’ll give her a shot.
The script for the flick was written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins with del Toro and Mark Johnson producing. Troy Nixey, who’s been described as ‘del Toro’s protege,’ will be making his directorial debut with DON’T BE AFRAID. The flick follows a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with devilish creatures. Nice. Katie Holmes (pictured) running away from devlish creatures in a del Toro flick… I’m there! Filming is set to shoot this Summer in Melbourne so keep it here for updates as we hear them!
