A sequel to the EVIL DEAD remake seems to be off the table for now and maybe forever, with the franchise having moved to television for the incredibly entertaining Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead, but the creative team behind the remake have gotten back together for the original horror project DON'T BREATHE.

Directed by Fede Alvarez from a screenplay he wrote with Rodo Sayagues, produced by Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, and starring Jane Levy, Daniel Zovatto, Dylan Minnette, and Stephen Lang, DON'T BREATHE has the following synopsis:

Three teens who get away with perfectly planned home robberies have set their sights on one last payout that will get them out of crime forever. Their target: a reclusive blind man with millions of dollars in hiding. But as soon as they break into his home, the tables are turned and they find themselves trapped and fighting for survival against a psychopath with secrets of his own.

A trailer for DON'T BREATHE has arrived online, and it appears that the EVIL DEAD '13 team has crafted a film that's going to provide quite an intense experience. One that's probably going to be a bit less gory than their previous collaboration.

Screen Gems had scheduled DON'T BREATHE for an August 26th release, but that date has been absent from the marketing materials so far.
