While the July 4th theatrical release of the PURGE prequel THE FIRST PURGE draws near, franchise creator James DeMonaco, Blumhouse Television, and Universal Cable Productions are busy assembling the Purge television series that will air on both USA Network and Syfy.

Last month, it was announced that Gabriel Chavarria will be playing Miguel, "a US Marine with a hard edge and a noble mission", on the show, with Jessica Garza also on board to play Miguel's sister Penelope, who "belongs to a Purge-worshipping cult."

Chavarria and Garza have now been joined in the cast by Amanda Warren and Colin Woodell.

Warren (pictured above), who was in the films MOTHER! and THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI last year (and also had a role in the "Black Museum" episode of Black Mirror), will be playing Jane,

a dedicated and hardworking finance professional who is convinced that she’s hit an insurmountable glass ceiling at her firm, so she hires a Purge-assassin.

The character to be brought to life by Woodell, who can currently be seen in Steven Soderbergh's UNSANE, is named Rick.

After a lifetime of bootstrapping, he finally is climbing the social ladder. But currying favor with the pro-Purge elite presents unexpected challenges to his marriage, as he and his wife must agree on what moral price they’ll pay to achieve the American dream.

The Purge series is being executive produced by Platinum Dunes, Sebastien K. Lemercier, and showrunner Thomas Kelly.

I think a TV series is a great direction for the Purge franchise to go in, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it digs deeper into the concept established by the films. The more I hear about this show, the more interesting it sounds.
