Andy Muschietti says IT: Chapter Two is serious, more intense, and scarier

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

CCXP in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is one of the biggest conventions on the planet. And at the most recent get-together, Warner Bros and director Andres Muschietti share a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel from the much-anticipated sequel to Stephen King's IT. While it seems that, you know, no actual footage from IT: CHAPTER TWO was shown, the behind-the-scenes sizzle reel did boast some cool stuff including Muschietti talking about what he hopes to accomplish with the sequel, saying "it will be serious, more intense, and have scarier moments."

Here's a full rundown on what was shown via Collider:

In the video, we saw director Andy Muschietti talk about what he hopes to accomplish with the anticipated sequel, saying it will be serious, more intense, and have scarier moments. The video also showed some pre-production artwork, including the different departments working on the film. Another part of the video showed new cast members Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, and others talking about what the film is about. There wasn’t much footage from the film, but we did see a shot of the cast together walking across a bridge. My favorite part, however, was some video from the very first table read. While we didn’t get to see the cast reading any lines, the video showed this massive table with every cast member listed getting ready to read the script.

Again, while it kind of sucks that no actual (substantial) footage from IT: CHAPTER TWO was shown at CCXP, I'd really love the chance to see this behind-the-scenes sizzle reel for myself. With my excitement for this follow-up reaching a fever pitch, I'll personally take whatever I can get at this point. How about you? How excited are you for IT: CHAPTER TWO? Let us know below!

Here's the new film's semi-synopsis for those who don't already know:

Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, IT CHAPTER TWO brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.

Bill Skarsgård returns in the seminal role of Pennywise along with James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean. Reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Dylan Grazer.

Muschietti directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman based on the novel by Stephen King. Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee are producing the film. Marty Ewing, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are the executive producers. IT CHAPTER TWO is a New Line Cinema production. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures on September 6, 2019.
