Another new trailer for The Blackcoat’s Daughter starring Emma Roberts

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

Full disclosure, I’m a huge Emma Roberts fan. After seeing her in SCREAM 4, I was a fan. Signed, sealed, delivered. As the years have worn on, Emma has only become more and more of a favorite of mine – and the genre as a whole.

Along with Sara Paxton (imagine THAT mash-up) Emma has turned in classic performance, after classic performance. Personally, I feel her turn as Chanel Oberlin in the FOX series SCREAM QUEENS was the number one reason to tune into that series week after week.

It’s with this in mind I find myself looking forward to Oz Perkins’ new/old flick THE BLACKCOAT’S DAUGHTER. I say new/old because Perkins’ (son of PSYCHO star Anthony Perkins) shot this flick long before the Netflix original I AM THE PRETTY THING THAT LIVES IN THE HOUSE

Back then it was called FEBRUARY (and now it’s getting released in February…), and the film has since been delayed more times than ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE or that new AMITYVILLE movie. But, supposedly, the film is really-for-real (for real this time, really) finally heading our way exclusively on DirecTV Feb 16, and in theaters March 31.

Until then we have a new trailer to show you. Check it out below.

A deeply atmospheric and terrifying new horror film, The Blackcoat’s Daughter centers on Kat (Kiernan Shipka) and Rose (Lucy Boynton), two girls who are left alone at their prep school Bramford over winter break when their parents mysteriously fail to pick them up.  While the girls experience increasingly strange and creepy occurrences at the isolated school, we cross cut to another story—that of Joan (Emma Roberts), a troubled young woman on the road, who, for unknown reasons, is determined to get to Bramford as fast as she can. As Joan gets closer to the school, Kat becomes plagued by progressively intense and horrifying visions, with Rose doing her best to help her new friend as she slips further and further into the grasp of an unseen evil force. The movie suspensefully builds to the moment when the two stories will finally intersect, setting the stage for a shocking and unforgettable climax.

THE BLACKCOAT’S DAUGHTER stars Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka and Lucy Boynton, and, again, will be available exclusively on DirecTV Feb 16, and in theaters March 31.
