Are You Afraid of the Dark? gets bumped up a week

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Late last year we learned that DISTURBIA and EAGLE EYE director D.J. Caruso was set to take the helm of Gary Dauberman (IT, THE NUN) and Paramount's upcoming adaptation of Nickelodeon's kid horror anthology series ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK. The movie was all set to hit theaters on October 11th, 2019. And today we have word that the flick will be telling its original tale of terror one week earlier than expected.

This update comes to us from Exhibitor Relations Co. over on Twitter who writes: "Paramount's flip-flop. ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? bumps up a week, now Oct. 4, 2019, while GEMINI MAN pushes back a week, now set for Oct. 11, 2019." I don't know about you but getting to see this movie a week earlier is all good news in my eyes. I'll be there whenever it comes out as I worship the original series. Bad/lame episodes and all.

ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK synopsis:

This kids anthology series recounts ghost stories told by the young members of the Midnight Society as they gather around a campfire. Each episode opens with members of the Midnight Society at their secret spot in the woods, where they prepare their fire and the night's storyteller announces the title of the his or her offering. However, the cameras soon leave the storyteller and switch to the tale being told.

Are you a fan of the Nickelodeon series? If so what do you think was the scariest episode? For me, it's "The Tale of Laughing in the Dark" with the runners-up being "The Tale of the Dead Man's Float", "The Tale of Old Man Corcoran" and "The Tale of the Midnight Madness" to name a few. What do you think? Let us know below! Then make sure to adjust your calendars as ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? now hits on October 4th, 2019.

Pfft. I wish.
