Ben Wheatley's A Field in England gets UK distribution

Heres a little bit of distribution news for you guys over in the UK to chew on. Per Screen Daily, Picturehouse Entertainment, Film4 and 4DVD have struck a three-film UK distribution deal including Ben Wheatley’s highly anticipated English Civil War horror A FIELD IN ENGLAND.

Great news for the UK but the even better news is that they've finally labeled Wheatley's latest effort as an actual horror film. Wheatley has quickly established himself as one of horrors great up and coming directors so keep a eye out for A FIELD IN ENGLAND because it sounds like a nasty psychedelic trip into pure horror.

In the war-torn English countryside in 1648, a small group of deserters flee the raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured and forced to help one of their captors in his search to find hidden treasure he believes is buried in the field. The group descends into a chaos of arguments, fighting, and paranoia, and as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they gradually become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.

The English Civil War-set film stars Michael Smiley (KILL LIST), Peter Ferdinando, Reece Shearsmith, Julian Barratt, Richard Glover (SIGHTSEERS) and Ryan Pope.
