With Gary Ross ditching the director’s chair after THE HUNGER GAMES, speculation abounds as to who would direct the sequel, CATCHING FIRE. A couple of days ago, we learned that Lionsgate already had a couple of potential candidates, including the one and only David Cronenberg. Now, it seems that another two contenders have entered the fray as Indiewire found out that Bennet Miller (MONEYBALL, CAPOTE) and Francis Lawrence (I AM LEGEND, CONSTANTINE) are both considered for the gig as well.
The search for the director is now officially in full swing. No wonder, given that the sequel to the record breaking box-office hit is tentatively slated for a November 22, 2013 release. We’ll surely know who lands the job soon enough.
