Black Wake, starring Nana Gouvea and Eric Roberts, warns that Hell is coming

Popular Brazilian actress Nana Gouvea will be making her English language debut in the independent sci-fi thriller BLACK WAKE, which Jeremiah Kipp is directing from a screenplay by Jerry Janda. Gouvea's co-stars include Eric Roberts, Tom Sizemore, Rich Graff, Jonny Beauchamp, Jeremy Fernandez, Kelly Rae LeGault, and Kaylin Iannone.

The film's synopsis:

Specialists gather in a top-secret facility to investigate a series of mysterious deaths on beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. When one scientist examines video evidence to uncover a possible parasitic explanation for the fatalities, she slowly learns that the actual threat may be more dangerous — and far older — than anyone ever imagined. Can she convince her colleagues of the true danger before an ancient force rises from the sea to bring madness and death to all of humanity?

Kipp and Janda shed a bit more light on the project in an interview with Fangoria, revealing that the film was heavily inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and even features a version of the Necronomicon.

BLACK WAKE just began shooting in July, but the filmmakers have already cut together a teaser trailer, which can be seen below, and plan to have a full trailer out in September.

The low budget is very apparent in the teaser and there are some sound issues, but I'm intrigued and will be keeping track of BLACK WAKE as it continues to go through the production/post-production process.
