Castle Rock season 2 begins filming – will visit Salem’s Lot

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The upcoming and highly-anticipated second season of Hulu and J.J. Abrams Stephen King series CASTLE ROCK has begun filming in Orange, Massachusetts. For those of you that might not know, the first season was filmed in Orange, MA from summer 2017 – January 2018. And recently, Season 2 production took place in Orange’s downtown area, with "storefronts dressed up and extras lining the sidewalks for most of the day."

More interesting still, the local site reports that while Orange is the show’s Castle Rock, the nearby town of Gardner will be transformed into none other than Jerusalem’s Lot aka SALEM'S LOT. Nice, right? Location manager Tim Gorman says they'll be back periodically throughout the next five months.

For those eagle-eyed viewers, the first season briefly visited SALEM'S LOT in S1E8 "Past Perfect." (see still below).

CASTLE ROCK Season 2 will bring us

A feud between warring clans that comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes (Caplan), Stephen King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.

Lizzy Caplan will be playing the role of young Annie Wilkes along with Tim Robbins as Reginald “Pop” Merrill, Paul Sparks as John “Ace” Merril, Elsie Fisher as Annie’s home-schooled teenage daughter, Joy, Yusra Warsam is Dr. Nadia Omar, Barkhad Abdi will portray Abdi Omar, Matthew Alan plays Chris Merrill, and John Hoogenakker will play a man with a complicated connection to MISERY's Annie Wilkes.

Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason continue to serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson, Vince Calandra, Stephen King, and Liz Glotzer. The show hails from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. We'll let you know when we hear more!
