Conan Stevens to become a monster for Dead Squad

Conan Stevens Game of Thrones

A few years ago, writer/director/producer Christopher Hatton brought us the spectacle of BATTLE OF THE DAMNED, which saw Dolph Lundgren fighting his way through zombie hordes with the help of killer robots. Now Hatton is teaming with Orlando Bassi of Movie Studio Bali to produce the creature feature DEAD SQUAD.

The feature directorial debut of Dominik Hauser, who also wrote the screenplay with Nancy Thornhill, DEAD SQUAD will star "Australian giant" Conan Stevens, a seven foot tall actor whose previous credits include MAN-THING (where he was Man-Thing), HOBBIT films and Game of Thrones (pictured above).

DEAD SQUAD is described as being "a campy, splatter-filled, horror adventure that harkens back to classic films of the early '80s", so they already have me won over right there. The story concerns

a group of young people who become lost in the jungle during a river rafting trip and stumble upon a long lost ruin that is home to a host of mysterious monsters.

Stevens will be the heading up that crew of fantastical creatures, ensuring that these are things you would never want to mess with.

The producers had the following to say about the project -

Hatton: "The film will be a lot of messy, bloody fun.  Dominik has a twisted vision and the creature effects being built by Movie Studio Bali are bringing it to life.   Camp horror fans will eat this one up."

Bassi:  "I am thrilled to be working with Dominik and his team.  We’re currently constructing the elaborate sets.  It is all quite incredible."

DEAD SQUAD sounds like a good time to me. The film is set to go into production in Bali, Indonesia in February.
