Demons star Geretta Giancarlo is writing a Demons homage

One of my favorite Italian horror movies is the 1985 Lamberto Bava/Dario Argento collaboration DEMONS, in which

a violent horror movie exerts a malevolent influence over theatre patrons, who are transformed one by bloody one into a horde of crazed demons.

DEMONS 2, which moved the setting to a demon-infested apartment building, is also pretty cool, but the first DEMONS is definitely my favorite. After that, a whole lot of movies tried to pass themselves off as DEMONS 3, but none of them were officially connected to the two real DEMONS movies. The closest thing we got to a second sequel is the 1989 Michele Soavi film THE CHURCH, but I still don't really consider that to be DEMONS 3. I mean, it doesn't even feature Bobby Rhodes (an actor who played different roles in DEMONS and DEMONS 2).

The first person to get possessed in DEMONS is played by Geretta Giancarlo, who is also known as Geretta Geretta. The folks over at Dark Universe were recently able to have a chat with her, and she revealed some interesting news:

For now most of my time is seriously being taken up with a wonderful version of a DEMONS homage script that I plan and hope to pull off here in New Orleans, where I am presently living. It is more or less my version of DEMONS 3.

It is under lock and key at the moment but I began to write the DEMONS 3 script two years ago. I am doing some polishing on it now. Of course there is still so much interest in another Demons movie…

A DEMONS sequel set in New Orleans? That sounds awesome to me, and I would love to see it happen. I really hope that she will be able to get some solid financial backing for the project once she has gotten the script into satisfactory condition.

While Geretta Giancarlo works on her DEMONS 3 idea, there was a rumor earlier this year that Lamberto Bava, Dario Argento, and special effects artist Sergio Stivaletti were considering making a 3D remake of DEMONS. We're still waiting to hear further news on that project.
