Final Swamp Thing trailer goes full backwoods body horror

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

James Wan's DC Universe horror series SWAMP THING starring Derek Mears (Jason Voorhees from the awesome 2009 FRIDAY THE 13TH reboot) will be launching later this month. And today we have an all-new trailer for the series. The show looks to be backwoods body horror and this new teaser really highlights that combo with tons of gory and atmosphere to spare. Check out the new trailer below and then let us know what you think!

Recently, we passed along word that Warner Bros put a halt to the production of DC Universe series and would be putting out a 10 episode first season instead of the originally planned 13 episodes. But that's all good as since then we've been hit with the show's horror-filled trailer which looks like an awesome mixture of John Carpenter's THE THING meets Adam Green's HATCHET to me. Bring it on, I say!

Len Wiseman directs the new series from a script by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. The cast includes Andy Bean as biologist Alec Holland and Crystal Reed as CDC Doctor Abby Arcane. Here's the rundown for the new series:

Abby Arcane investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Bean and Reed star in this new series along with Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Henderson Wade, Ian Ziering, and Kevin Durand, with Derek Mears as Swamp Thing himself. James Wan's company Atomic Monster is producing Swamp Thing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wan, Wiseman, Verheiden, and Dauberman also serve as executive producers on the series with Michael Clear. Rob Hackett is co-producer. Swamp Thing will be unleashed through the DC Universe streaming service beginning on May 31st.
