Gabriel Bateman faces the horrors of Lights Out, produced by James Wan

INSIDIOUS/THE CONJURING director James Wan is adding another supernatural horror film to his filmography, producing New Line Cinema's LIGHTS OUT with Lawrence Grey and Eric Heisserer, who is also writing the screenplay.

Heisserer is quite familiar with horror himself, having previously scripted FINAL DESTINATION 5, the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, and the prequel to THE THING. He also did some work on the upcoming CONJURING 2.

Child actor Gabriel Bateman (pictured above) is the first to join the cast of LIGHTS OUT, which is set to be directed by David F. Sandberg, based on his short film of the same name. We featured that short on Arrow in the Head as a Cool Horror Video around a year ago.

Synopsis:

The story centers on a supernatural entity attacking a family, with one of the members required to step up to protect them from a threat that can be seen only when the lights go out.

Sounds like perfect material for Wan to be involved with. Sandberg showed promise with the 3 minute short version of this concept, it will be interesting to see how it plays out at thirty times the length.
