Get Out scores major nods at 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Recently we shared a story about Jordan Peele's GET OUT being considered a comedy by the Golden Globes. While I don't understand that line of thinking, if it helps the movie get the love it deserves come awards time, fine by me.

Speaking of awards love for GET OUT today the nominees for the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards were released and GET OUT scored nominations in most of the major categories, including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Male Lead, and Best Editing.

Sucks that Allison Williams didn't get a nod for Best Female Lead as I thought she was one of the very best aspects of the phenomenal film. She is going to be a megastar one day, mark my words.

Anyhow, do you think GET OUT deserves some love come time for this year's Academy Awards? Make sure to hit us up and let us know in the comments below or on social media!

GET OUT synopsis:

Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

GET OUT is written & directed by Jordan Peele and produced by Jason Blum. The horror film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Stephen Root, and Catherine Keener.
