So this is weird: Bloody Disgusting has received the reported official synopsis for Fox direct-to-DVD FRIGHT NIGHT 2, and call us crazy, but it appears to be the exact same movie, right down to the characters! I won’t even hesitate, let’s just get to it:
When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror obsessed friend “Evil” Ed and ex-girlfriend Amy in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show “Fright Night,” to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, who’s blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.
Why is Evil Ed traveling anywhere given the fact that (spoiler) he’s deader than dead? How is Charlie not sure how to kill a vampire? What are the chances Peter Vincent is also in Romania? What are the chances this new vampire is named Gerri when the first one was Jerry? What the hell is going on?!
Bizarre, to say the least. I think we should wait until we hear more before we all go flat-out insane, but right now it appears as though Fox is either remaking the film again or just being as lazy as possible with the plot.
In any event, Bloody has learned that Brit Jaime Murray (pictured below) will be playing “Gerri”. Filming evidently commences next week in, you guessed it, Romania.
