It’s been quite a while since we’ve had an update regarding Joe Carnahan’s killer wolf flick THE GREY. Actually the last we heard from the project was back in February, when we got a look at some behind the scenes shots. Fast forward five months and here we are, finally with some actual news on this little diddy.
You see there was recently a 30 minute reel from THE GREY shown to distributors and according to Deadline New York everybody wants a piece! Apparently the reel has created a pretty intense bidding war between studios like Warner Bros, Open Road, Summit, Lionsgate, The Weinstein Company and FilmDistrict. There’s one condition the filmmakers have though – they want THE GREY released later this year. That might spell trouble for some of these studios, who already have pretty packed late-year schedules. Alas time will tell who actually scores those one. Must’ve been a pretty awesome 30 minute reel, huh?
The flick follows a group of roughnecks left stranded by a plane crash right in the hunting zone of a pack of rogue wolves on the frozen Alaskan tundra.
THE GREY stars Liam Neeson, Frank Grillo, Dallas Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Joe Anderson and Nonso Anozie. We’ll have word for you guys soon on who snatches this one up with a release date hopefully to follow.
