Perhaps best known for her roles as Lisa on the V revival and Supergirl on Smallville, Laura Vandervoort has been working steadily in the horror genre over the last few years, taking roles in the werewolf TV series Bitten, the SAW sequel JIGSAW, the Soska sisters' RABID remake, and the Netflix vampire show V-Wars. Now she has signed on to co-star in the suspense thriller MATERNAL, which Megan Follows will be directing from a script by Chris John.
Amybeth McNulty of the Netflix series Anne with an E is set to star in MATERNAL, which will be following
the terrifying journey of our protagonist Charley who, after a near-death experience, is haunted by her relationship with her deceased mother.
Kris Holden-Ried and Colm Feore are also in the cast.
MATERNAL is being produced by Ideal Entertainment, RedHill Entertainment, and Dean Armstrong of 16/11 Films.
The film is scheduled to go into production next month, and is aiming to be released in Canada for Mother's Day 2020. That's May 10th, so this one is making a very quick trip from start of production to release.
