UNDERWORLD director Len Wiseman (where’s he been?) has been tapped to produce and direct the pilot for “Lucifer”, a new series based on the DC Comics character. Jerry Bruckheimer is also on board to executive produce. Fox has just given a formal pilot order to the project, which is being made by Warner Bros TV.

The synopsis for this one is kind of a pisser:

Lucifer, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux and helps the LAPD punish criminals.

Californication’s” Tom Kapinos penned the pilot and will also produce. The Lucifer character originated as a supporting character in “The Sandman” comic book series created by Neil Gaiman.
