Maiara Walsh lands lead role in Amazon’s Zombieland

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Amazon’s ZOMBIELAND pilot has found its female lead in Maiara Walsh, who will be taking over the role of Wichita in the comedic adaptation of the 2009 feature. Wichita was originally played by Emma Stone in the Ruben Fleischer-directed film.

The comedy continues the events of the feature, with new actors taking over the roles of Columbus, Tallahassee and Wichita, previously played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone, respectively. Walsh joins the already announced Tyler Ross and Izabela Vodovic, who landed the roles of Columbus and Little Rock.

In case you haven’t revisited ZOMBIELAND lately and are in need of a refresher, Walsh’s character of Wichita is described below, as noted from the pilot’s updated description of the character which keeps to the 2009 Ruben Fleischer film’s continuity:

Wichita is still trying to look after Little Rock, trying to teach her math with problems about someone stealing from a liquor store and jumping on a train going 42 miles per hour, with a cop chasing in a car going 88 miles per hour. We also learn a lot more about Wichita’s backstory, including how she ran away from her father after he had her stealing people’s Christmas presents — and later, she found out she had a sister who was also being a grifter with her dad.

The casting news on this series keeps pouring in and we anxiously await word on who will be tackling the Tallahassee and Columbus roles, which I feel will be integral to the pilot’s success. Keep checking in for more details as we hear ’em!
