Maniac remake will stalk the US this summer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

At long last, we know when we’ll be confronted with Franck Khalfoun’s MANIAC remake here in the states. The film was released in some overseas territories (like France and Germany) a couple of months back, while other countries will be getting it this month. But the question of when domestic distributor IFC will be unleashing it in the US has lingered… until now.

Thanks to Fangoria, we know that MANIAC will be released by IFC Films on JUNE 21st to select theaters, as well as VOD, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, SundanceNow.com, Xbox and Playsation platforms.

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

Produced and written by Alexandre Aja and Grégory Levasseur, MANIAC stars Elijah Wood, Nora Arnezeder and America Olivo.
