Michael Shannon may take part in Guillermo del Toro’s new film

Michael Shannon

Director/cult icon Guillermo del Toro's latest film may or may not be called THE SHAPE OF WATER, but regardless of the title it has certainly been shaping up nicely so far. Things are looking even better now that one of the most captivating actors working today is in talks to join the cast, which already includes Sally Hawkins (pictured below), Octavia Spencer, Richard Jenkins, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

That actor is Michael Shannon, and while del Toro and Fox Searchlight are keeping the details about his character under their hats, like they're doing with everything regarding this film, it's a given that Shannon would be a fantastic addition.

While this project is rumored to have a plot that sounds like del Toro drew inspiration from the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON trilogy and the Abe Sapien character from HELLBOY, the official description is:

An other-worldly story, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. A mysterious and magical journey from master storyteller Guillermo del Toro.
