Seth Meyers & NBC announce reboot of The Munsters

Here we go again.

Back in 2012, HANNIBAL showrunner Bryan Fuller wrote a pilot called MOCKINGBIRD LANE which was to be a star-studded, big-budget of THE MUNSTERS. The pilot was directed by Bryan Singer and starred the likes of Jerry O’Connell as Herman, Portia de Rossi as Lily, and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. 

While that series never went on to much – and was eventually released as a Halloween special – that doesn't seem to be stopping NBC who have just announced that they are rebooting the classic series, yet again, this time with the help of SNL's Seth Meyers and Jill Kargman.

The new THE MUNSTERS rebooted series will be "inspired by original series" and the half-hour single-camera show will follow The Munsters as they "struggle to fit in in hipster Brooklyn."

This change of location is a big step in that The Munsters are almost as well-known for their original address (1313 Mockingbird Lane) as they are for their classic characters, including PET SEMATARY's Fred Gwynne as the head of the clan aka Herman "don't call me Frankenstein" Munster.

Kargamn came up with the new take and then joined forces with Meyers after securing the rights from Universal. The new series will be written by Kargan and executive produced by Seth Meyers.
