Netflix acquires Gareth Evans' Apostle as Boynton, Sheen, and more join cast

Lucy Boynton

Back in November, it was announced that THE GUEST himself Dan Stevens would be starring in the period revenge thriller APOSTLE, the latest film from THE RAID director Gareth Evans. With those two heading things up, it was only a matter of time before the project landed a great distribution deal, and now it has one: Netflix has acquired the global distribution rights for APOSTLE.

Accompanying the announcement that Netflixwill be putting the film out into the world is the reveal that several actors have joined Stevens in the cast. The new additions are Lucy Boynton (pictured above), Michael Sheen, Bill Millner, and Kristine Froseth.

This cast will be working together to bring to the screen the story of

a man who travels to a remote island and attempts to rescue his sister after she’s kidnapped by a religious cult. The group demands a ransom for the sister’s return, undermining the man’s resolve to rescue her.

Produced by XYZ Films, Severn Screen, and Evans' company One More One Productions, APOSTLE is set to begin filming next month.
