Netflix's unveils Apostle poster & release date

For all the shite that I give Netflix about their acquisitions of horror films, the streaming giant sure does know how to put out a quality ORIGINAL film. From THE RITUAL to GERALD'S GAME, this past year, Netflix has really stepped up their horror game. And the train looks to be rollin' ahead with aplomb.

Today we have word that THE RAID directed Gareth Evans' Netflix original horror film APOSTLE starring Dan Stevens (THE GUEST) and Lucy Boynton (THE BLACKCOAT'S DAUGHTER) will be streaming globally this October - and we have the poster to prove it.

You can check out the poster below in all it's "Hey that looks like the opening credits to TRUE DETECTIVE" glory. Personally, I'm digging the poster. It, you know, looks like the opening credits to TRUE DETECTIVE.

The film begins in:

London, 1905. Prodigal son Thomas Richardson (Dan Stevens) has returned home, only to learn that his sister is being held for ransom by a religious cult. Determined to get her back at any cost, Thomas travels to the idyllic island where the cult lives under the leadership of the charismatic Prophet Malcolm (Michael Sheen). As Thomas infiltrates the island's community, he learns that the corruption of mainland society that they claim to reject has infested the cult's ranks nonetheless - and uncovers a secret far more evil than he could have imagined. Written and directed by Gareth Evans (THE RAID), APOSTLE is a harrowing occult fable where the only thing more horrifying than madness is the sinister reality behind it.

It's written and directed by Gareth Evans (THE RAID) and stars Dan Stevens, Lucy Boynton, Mark Lewis Jones, Bill Milner, Kristine Froseth, Paul Higgins, and Michael Sheen. It's produced by Aram Tertzakian and Ed Talfan.

The movie is all set to hit Netflix on October 12th. Once that date hits, you can begin streaming the film globally RIGHT HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Will you be checking out APOSTLE this October?
