Pet Sematary Remake Gets 2019 Release Date!

A few weeks back we shared the news that STARRY EYES directing-duo Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch had been hired by Paramount to helm the upcoming remake of PET SEMATARY.

The duo will be directing a script written by Jeff Buhler (MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN) and, duh, based on the novel by Mr. Stephen King. Today we have the news that the film is going to hit us on April 19, 2018.

As you all can imagine I am very excited about this film. I know it's a remake and most people hate them on principle, but I believe PET SEMATARY kinda deserves a remake. I love the original film (it's in my top ten of all-time), but there are some horrific aspects the book boasted that the original film let slip by.

Let's hope this new version does the book another solid. But better!

PET SEMATARY synopsis:

Doctor Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne). After the Creeds' cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse. When Louis' son, Gage (Miko Hughes), dies tragically, Louis decides to bury the boy's body in the same ground despite the warnings of Crandall and Louis' visions of a deceased patient.

PET SEMATARY hits us like an Orinoco truck blaring The Ramones on April 19, 2019.
