So we've known for a while that Universal Pictures is reviving their classic monsters franchise, which began with DRACULA UNTOLD and will continue with THE MUMMY reboot. THE WOLF MAN is also getting the update treatment, and now we're learning who could be bringing us the reboot.

Buried in a story concerning Justin Lin's future involvement with the FAST & FURIOUS franchise is the rumor that PRISONERS scribe Aaron Guzikowski is being courted to get THE WOLF MAN howling again at Universal. If this turns out to be true then we could be hearing more on this WOLF MAN update sooner rather than later as it would signal that Universal is working to get the classic monsters revival going in a much faster manner than anticipated.

I found PRISONERS to be very well written so it would be interesting to see how Guzikowski reimagines THE WOLF MAN. And while I feel 2010's Benicio Del Toro-starring THE WOLFMAN remake has gotten a bad rep (hey, I liked it!), I do welcome another go-around with THE WOLF MAN, especially if we can eventually see the hairy beast go head-to-head with Dracula and Frankenstein's monster.

More on THE WOLF MAN, and other Universal monster flicks, as we hear it!
