Ready for even more Beauty and the Beast? Kristin Kreuk cast in CW B&B pilot

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST... Guillermo del Toro is doin' it. So is Christophe Gans. Why should TV lag behind?

The CW is prepping its own version of the timeless tale, with Gary Fleder (THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD) at the helm. The series, which is inspired by the 80s version that starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton, has just picked up its "beauty" in the lovely form of Kristin Kreuk, who most will remember as "Smallville's" Lana Lang.

In this updated version of B&B, Kreuk will plays Catherine, a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero.

Because doesn't Kreuk look every bit like a "tough-minded NYPD homicide detective?" While that may be a bit of a stretch, it's not reaching to think of her as a beauty...

No word on when this goes before cameras, but the CW is likely prepping it for a fall debut.

Extra Tidbit: Was anyone here a fan of the 80s "Beauty and the Beast" series with Ron Perlman?
