Spoilers: Remake director teases Child’s Play 2

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Lars Klevberg and MGM's remake of Tom Holland and Don Mancini's CHILD'S PLAY with Mark Hamill as the voice of new Chucky was unleashed into a theater near you this past weekend. I don't know if you made the time to go see it, but I did and F*CKING LOVED IT! And today we already have word that the remake's director Lars Klevberg is teasing where he wants to go with a potential sequel. Needles to say HERE THERE BE SPOILERS!

Klevberg said:

For me, this was just trying to make this the best movie possible. Like, never foreshadowing any detailed plan of where you want to go as a franchise. But yeah, for me I think I love the Buddi Bear concept. I love the other stuff, and I think we should spend – if that happens – later on, we should spend more time with those assets. I think that was presented a little too short in this movie, what the Buddi Bears are and can be capable of doing.

He then added:

I haven’t said everything I need to say. But for us, and the studio and the producers and me, we’re all just focusing on this first movie and trying to do that as good as possible, and it’s up to the audience to say that the studio and me are allowed to embark on the next one.

The CHILD'S PLAY remake has been slapped with an R-rating for "bloody horror violence, and language throughout" and follows:

A mother (Plaza) gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

The remake is directed by Lars Klevberg (POLAROID) from a screenplay written by KUNG FURY 2 writer Tyler Burton Smith with STEPHEN KING'S IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith producing. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced. Aubrey Plaza stars as Andy's Mom, along with Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT) as Andy, and Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke co-star. CHILD'S PLAY slashed its tiny terrifying ass into your local multiplex this past weekend.
