Resident Evil: Vendetta

While the live action RESIDENT EVIL film franchise (recently wrapped up with THE FINAL CHAPTER) has been off doing its own thing, Capcom has also been producing CG animated films that are actually set in the same universe as the video game source material. Following 2008's RESIDENT EVIL: DEGENERATION and 2012's RESIDENT EVIL: DAMNATION is RESIDENT EVIL: VENDETTA, which is set to be released in Japan on May 27th. There will be a special Fathom Events theatrical showing of VENDETTA in the U.S. on June 19th, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on July 18th.

Directed by Takanori Tsujimoto, RESIDENT EVIL: VENDETTA is set between the events of the video games Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The plot:

BSAA Chris Redfield enlists the help of American government agent Leon S. Kennedy and Professor Rebecca Chambers from Alexander Institute of Biotechnology to try to stop Glenn Arias, a death merchant who is on a mission of vengeance, from spreading a new deadly virus known as "The Trigger Virus" in New York City.

In the build-up to the film's release, a clip has arrived to show off a moment in which Redfield and Kennedy take on a bunch of the walking dead in a corridor – and given the style of gunplay the clip features, this may be the closest we'll ever get to seeing John Wick fight zombies.

Check out the clip below, followed by the film's trailer, and start getting prepared for RESIDENT EVIL: VENDETTA.
