If you’ve been waiting anxiously for a new HEAVY METAL movie that may never come, here is a development that should hold you over: WE Productions, Humanoids and Panini U.K. Media have unveiled the star talent on board for the sci-fi adventure METAL HURLANT CHRONICLES, which is being developed as a live-action TV series…(This is where I tell you that “Metal Hurlant” was the French comic anthology that ultimately spawned the U.S. version, which we know as “Heavy Metal”.)

THE METAL HURLANT CHRONICLES will star
Rutger Hauer, Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2), Michael Jai White, Joe Flanigan (Stargate Atlantis, Warehouse 13, CSI) and James Marsters (Buffy, Angel, Smallville, Torchwood). Further cast announcements will be made at the end of the year.

The first two seasons, each comprised of twelve 30-minute episodes, will be delivered in April 2012 and November 2012, respectively. Directed by Guillaume Lubrano, co-founder of WE Productions, each episode will be shot in English and French and will cover one or two stories adapted from the original graphic novels.
