Back in June we peeled your lids with a trailer for PLAYBACK, a supernatural thriller starring the once great Christian Slater. Well, looks like this sucker’s found some distribution!
From an official presser, Magnet Releasing (the genre arm of Magnolia) has just attracted U.S. rights to PLAYBACK from Celluloid Nightmares. For release, the plan is to issue the film on VOD this coming February, before putting the film in limited theaters the following March. No specific dates were given, but at least we have a generality.
Written and directed by Michael A. Nickles, PLAYBACK picks up:
While digging into their town’s infamous past, a group of high school students unwittingly unlock an even darker secret. Now an evil spirit has been awakened to possess and destroy its victims through video playback, stopping at nothing to find his true heir.
Johnny Pacar, Toby Hemingway, Ambyr Childers, Jonathan Keltz, Alessandra Torresani (below), Jennifer Missoni, Mark Metcalf and Daryl Mitchell all support Slater.
