I think it's safe to say that by this point in time everyone here is aware that Warner Brothers canceled DC Univer and James Wan's SWAMP THING series after only allowing the show to air a single episode. Sure the rest of the (now) 10-episode season is still airing weekly on the streaming service, but what's the future for the character in general? Well, it looks like Warner Bros. may be developing a SWAMP THING movie!

The solid word of mouth surrounding the series and the backlash the cancellation caused seems to have inspired the studio to consider bringing the character back to the big screen. That said, this movie would NOT be a continuation of the show, and would feature a new cast/crew. News of this possible SWAMP THING movie makes sense to me considering we've been hearing rumblings about a possible big screen reboot of CONSTANTINE starring Colin Farrell as the Hellblazer. And if WB is developing SWAMP THING and CONSTANTINE movies that could mean only one thing:

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK!

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Len Wiseman directs the DC Universe SWAMP THING series from a script by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. The cast includes Andy Bean as biologist Alec Holland and Crystal Reed as CDC Doctor Abby Arcane. Here's the rundown for the new series:

Abby Arcane investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Bean and Reed star in this new series along with Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Henderson Wade, Ian Ziering, and Kevin Durand, with Derek Mears as Swamp Thing himself. James Wan's company Atomic Monster is producing Swamp Thing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wan, Wiseman, Verheiden, and Dauberman also serve as executive producers on the series with Michael Clear. Rob Hackett is co-producer. Swamp Thing is still airing weekly on DC Universe.
