Synopsis revealed for "American Horror Story: Asylum" Episode One

FX has unveiled the synopsis for the first episode of "American Horror Story: Asylum," which returns to the network on October 17th. The new season, set in a 1960s asylum, sees the return of Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Francis Conroy and Lily Rabe, as well as the addition of Adam Levine, Joseph Fiennes, Jenna Dewan, Chloe Sevigny, Mark Consuelos and Clea Duvall.

The synopsis doesn't give us all that much to go on, but fans eager to see the show's return will still most likely be eager to nibble on this morsel.

Here is the synopsis for Episode 2.1, titled "Welcome to Briarcliff": Welcome to Briarcliff Manor a notorious insane asylum home to the deranged serial killer, Bloody Face. Lurking in the shadows of this “sanctuary of healing” are terrifying evils that blur the boundaries between reality and insanity.

The episode was written by Tim Minear ("Angel") and directed by Bradley Buecker.
