Take a look at The Walking Dead’s Michonne and her new Flame

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

October can't get here fast enough! I'm ready for Halloween and excited for the onslaught of horror films hitting DVD, VOD and theaters that month. Also, like many of you, I'm super stoked for the return on AMC's "The Walking Dead", and today we have a look at sword-carrying badass Michonne riding her new Flame. No, seriously…Michonne has a Flame in this upcoming season, and thanks to EW, we've got a look at the duo below.

I've always found the term 'flame' hilarious when it's used as a romantic description. I've never really wanted to be anyone's 'flame', as I was content enough to be just another bad decision after a long night at the bar, but when I hear someone (or something) referred to as a 'flame' my mind immediately goes straight to the gutter. When I heard that my favorite female character from "The Walking Dead" would have a 'flame' this upcoming season I got kind of giddy…until I saw the image below. Not exactly what I was expecting.

EW shared the above sneak-peak look at Season 4 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, which depicts Michonne riding her new horse named Flame. From the looks of things going on in the background, zombies are no match for Flame (but then again, we all remember what happened to Rick's horse in the first episode, right?).

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, “The Walking Dead” tells the story of a group of survivors who travel in search of a safe and secure home in the months and years following a zombie apocalypse. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Emily Kinney.

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd tells EW…

“One of the most compelling images is Michonne finding a new and possibly a lot more reliable type of transportation. With gas at a premium, with the fact that vehicles break down, I think we would return to the days of horseback riding and you can graze them as you go in a place like Georgia. You don’t have to carry food for them. They feed themselves, so to speak. It goes along with the new approach this season of sustainability. With a horse, you can go through the woods. You can get around obstacles. You can’t do that in a vehicle. If a tree falls and blocks the road, you can’t go through the forest. You’re not going to make it through. It’s actually much more of a useful choice. Not only that, but Michonne looks so badass on it.”

No argument from me. She does look pretty badass on it.

Season 4 of “The Walking Dead” returns to AMC in October 13 at 9pm ET.
