The Disappointments Room replaces Before I Wake on release schedule

2016 has been looking like it was the year of director Mike Flanagan, with three films from the ABSENTIA / OCULUS filmmaker being scheduled to come out within the calendar year. His home invasion film HUSH impressed a lot of viewers, including Stephen King, when it hit Netflix back in April. The Flanagan-helmed prequel OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL is looking to redeem the OUIJA brand this October. And in between the two, Relativity Media was supposed to be releasing his long-awaited supernatural thriller BEFORE I WAKE on September 9th.

But the year might turn out to be one Flanagan film short, as BEFORE I WAKE (pictured above) is not going to be released on September 9th. Relativity has just delayed the film for the fourth time, removing it from their release schedule. This isn't because of any problem with BEFORE I WAKE itself, but because Relativity is still struggling to recover from bankruptcy, which they filed for last summer.

Starring Kate Bosworth, Thomas Jane, Annabeth Gish, Dash Mihok, and Jacob Tremblay, BEFORE I WAKE tells the following story:

Jessie and Mark decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody.  Unbeknownst to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first, they assume his previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep, but soon discover why: Cody's dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody's imagination, and in the next, the horrific nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody's nightmares.

With the its date now open, Relativity has moved the dramatic thriller THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM into BEFORE I WAKE's place. Previously scheduled for release on November 18th, THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM will now be receiving a limited theatrical run on September 9th, with the primary focus being on a VOD release.

Directed by D.J. Caruso and starring Kate Beckinsale, Mel Raido, Lucas Till, and Gerald McRaney, THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM tells the story of

one family’s terror-filled encounter within their own home. Looking for a fresh start, Dana and David, together with their 5-year-old son Jeremy, move into their dream house, a beautiful old rural home. Hidden within the attic was a secret room. When frightening and unexplainable events lead Dana to discover the long lost key to this room, she accidentally unlocks a host of unimaginable horrors that reveal the house’s past is terrifyingly tied with her own.

THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM is another one that has been sitting on the shelf at Relativity for quite a while. It had originally been scheduled for release last year.
