The Raid remake officially being directed by Patrick Hughes

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A few weeks ago presented us with the rumor that Patrick Hughes, director of THE EXPENDABLES 3, was in talks to direct the long-gestating remake of THE RAID. Late yesterday, the deal became official. Screen Gems has signed Mr. Hughes to do the near impossible: remake an already damn near perfect movie. Good luck!

Hughes’ name came out of nowhere last year when Sylvester Stallone announced he had been hired to direct the third EXPENDABLES flick. Hughes only had one feature credit to his name at the time, the violent western RED HILL. Obviously, he’s impressing all the right people at the moment.

The original RAID followed

an Indonesian S.W.A.T. team tasked with storming a building where a violent gangster and his thugs reign over innocent residents. One young cop has a mission of his own – to rescue his drug-dealing brother from the chaos inside.

The remake was written by Brad Inglesby. Screen Gems has not given the film a release date yet.
