The Strangers 2 starts shooting this summer

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

"Because you were home." Kiss MY ass with that spooky sh*t.

It feels like we have been waiting forever for the sequel to Bryan Bertino's home invasion neo-classic THE STRANGERS. Well, wait no longer for more masked-creepin' creepers creeping out of the shadows, because the sequel is knocking at our door. In the middle of the night. So to speak. We have just received word the film is "officially" a go, with casting underway and the shoot scheduled for the summer!

Johannes Roberts (THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR, 47 METERS DOWN) is on board to direct from a script written by Bryan Bertino himself and Ben Ketai. Mark Lane & James Harris (47 METERSDOWN, I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER) are producing along with Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones, in association with Relativity Media. BLOOM will be handling international sales at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Robert’s said:

"Working with The Fyzz and Bloom to bring the brilliant set-up from the first movie to a new generation and deliver a powerful sequel is incredibly exciting.”

BLOOM's Alex Walton said:

“I am truly scared every time I think of the original The Strangers movie, it is my favorite horror film of the past 10 years.  The screenplay will immediately satisfy any fan of the original and I’m confident of a growing audience for this genre around the world.“

"The screenplay will immediately satisfy any fan of the original…" that is all I needed to hear, Mr. International Sales Dude. Sign me up to be creeped out to the bone "one-more-gin."

The Strangers 2 synopsis:

A family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and after the power goes out they decide to hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer. Under the cover of darkness three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.

Bertino most recently wrote and directed chilling/thrilling horror-drama THE MONSTER, and is currently producing the fantasy horror flick STEPHANIE for Blumhouse Productions.

Another lesser known Bertino flick is the underrated MOCKINGBIRD. While that flick is underrated for a reason – its last, I kid you not, 30 secs are ludicrously dumb – the rest of the flick is a tight, scary-as-hell, found footage fright. Highly recommended. Just skip the last 30 secs. Trust me.

For real – with the masks and the shadows – kiss my ass, then just kill it.
