Viral website for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes spreads the disease

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Now that we've seen the first look at Matt Reeves' DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, it's time to dive head first into some viral fun! Following in the viral footsteps of ROBOCOP and GODZILLA, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES has launched their Simian Flu marketing campaign that aims to spread awareness on the disease that proves to be fatal to humans. It's a fantastic little site that explains all the symptoms of the Simian Flu as well as an interactive map that shows a timeline of where you can expect the disease to spread. It's probably my favorite viral campaign yet because it's terrifyingly convincing — check it out right HERE. And be sure to watch the Simian Flu: OPHA Public Service Announcement below!

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

APES stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, Toby Kebbell, Enrique Murciano and Judy Greer. The film is currently slated for a July 18, 2014 release!
