Earlier this year, Vivica A. Fox shared the screen with a female President of the United States (played by Sela Ward) in the alien invasion film INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE. Now Fox has signed on to star in another movie dealing with extraterrestrial beings, and this time around she will be playing the female President of the United States.

Fox has been elected to play the President in director Brandon Slagle's sci-fi action film CROSSBREED, where she'll co-star with Stink Fisher, Devanny Pinn, Vernon Wells, and John T. Woods.

The story centers on

a group of retired military war heroes who are sent to retrieve an extraterrestrial being from an illegal Medical Facility using its DNA to manufacture weapons.

The leader of the mission was handpicked for the job by Fox's President, as the two are former colleagues. You know, the way Dutch's team was chosen by Dillon in PREDATOR

Any comparisons to previous movies are likely intentional, since CROSSBREED is being described as "a throwback to action films of the 1980s." It might also be a throwback to '80s video games, because Slagle recently added an image from the old school "commandos vs. aliens" game Contra to his Facebook account. That's a good sign for this film in my book.

As for how Fox's President will portrayed, Slagle says you can expect something a little different from the usual screen Presidents. This woman can "light up a room but also has a commanding presence. Our President is positive and proactive, not the grim figure as is usually portrayed in these types of movies."

CROSSBREED begins filming next month.
