Easter weekend isn’t exactly a big horror day – despite Jesus being the original zombie – so we didn’t see any new releases this weekend. Wes Craven’s SCREAM 4 continued its mediocre run falling to #5 from #2 with 7.2 million. It experiencing a 62% decrease, the most severe drop of any major release last week.
On the other hand, James Wan’s INSIDIOUS must once again be commended. The film only fell one spot to #7 with $5.4 million. It will now almost certainly out-gross SCREAM 4, which is rather ridiculous when you consider it was made for under $1 million.
Duncan Jones’ SOURCE CODE landed at #10 with $5.1 million. Neil Burger’s LIMITLESS came in at #12 with $2.6 million. All of the other recent genre releases fell out of the Top 20.
Next week DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT is finally out, but it will have some stiff competition; it goes up against FAST FIVE, HOODWINKED TOO, and PROM. Takashi Miike’s 13 ASSASSINS will also be playing in select theaters.
