Horror-thriller The Bride coming from director Jessica M. Thompson

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Variety has announced that director Jessica M. Thompson will helm the upcoming Screen Gems horror-thriller THE BRIDE. Here's the official synopsis:

The story follows a young woman who attends a lavish destination wedding, unaware of the horrors that await.

This will be Thompson's second feature as director, as she had written/direct the critically-acclaimed drama THE LIGHT OF THE MOON starring Stephanie Beatriz, which was about

a successful New York City architect who struggles to regain intimacy and control in her life after an event turns her world upside down. The movie won the audience award for best narrative feature at the 2017 SXSW Festival, putting her on the radar of every studio in town.

THE BRIDE will be written by Blair Butler (with revisions by Thompson) who wrote the horror flick POLAROID, and is also developing THE STEPS for Bad Robot. Meanwhile, it will be produced by Emile Gladstone (THE CURSE OF LLORONA).

With everything going on, there is obviously no official start or release date, but we'll keep you posted as this project develops!
