House of the Dragon finale leaks online and HBO responds

The House of the Dragon finale isn’t set to be released until Sunday, but it seems that a copy of the much-anticipated episode has been leaked online. Fans are urged to stay vigilant on social media as spoilers from the finale are undoubtedly floating around.

In response to the leak of the House of the Dragon finale, an HBO spokesperson said, “We are aware that the tenth episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites. It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet. We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.” Game of Thrones experienced its share of leaks during its fun, but this would appear to be the first major leak for House of the Dragon.

HBO has already renewed House of the Dragon for a second season, but when the series does return, it will do so without one of its major creative influences. Miguel Sapochnik will be stepping down as showrunner of House of the Dragon, leaving co-creator Ryan Condal as the sole showrunner of the series “Working within the GOT universe for the past few years has been an honor and a privilege, especially spending the last two with the amazing cast and crew of House of the Dragon,” Sapochnik said. “I am so proud of what we accomplished with Season One and overjoyed by the enthusiastic reaction of our viewers. It was incredibly tough to decide to move on, but I know that it is the right choice for me, personally and professionally.” Another Game of Thrones veteran will be stepping up to replace Sapochnik. Alan Taylor, who directed many episodes during the first few seasons of the original show, will join the second season of House of the Dragon as a director and executive producer.
