Hugh Jackman shows off his Blackbeard look for Joe Wright’s Pan

Joe Wright (ATONEMENT, HANNA) is a filmmaker I'll follow for the rest of his days, as he's absolutely won me over with his artistic eye, respect for film scores (and how they work within a movie), as well as his superb casting choices. When PAN was first announced, we waited for the usual casting news (Peter Pan, Hook, etc) and were a little caught off-guard when Blackbeard was mentioned as the main antagonist of this flick. While Javier Bardem was first approached to take that role, I don't think anyone will miss him with Hugh Jackman taking his place. Shooting is about to start, and Jackman was goodly enough to snap a selfie of his new look.

Check out Jackman's masterfully bald head:

Hugh Jackman is a performer who seems to have a great passion for everything he does (more recently rocking it as host for the Tony's) and I'm excited to see him in any project outside of X-Men. Don't get me wrong, he owns Wolverine like it's nobody's business, but it's fascinating to see him without the claws for a few minutes. This picture is just the beginning, and I'm really excited to follow PAN’s development.

Joe Wright's PAN, starring Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Rooney Mara, Garrett Hedlund, and Levi Miller, is set to be released on July 17, 2015.
