Ian Somerhalder returns to the vampire world in trailer for Netflix’s V-Wars

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After playing Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries for eight years, you might assume that Ian Somerhalder would be done with vampires, but the actor is diving right back into that world with V-Wars, an upcoming Netflix show based upon the comic series of the same name by Jonathan Maberry.

This time around, Ian Somerhalder will be playing a human, Dr. Luther Swann, who who becomes swept up in a global disaster when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these "vampires." Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires. In addition to Somerhalder, the ten-episode series also stars Adrian Holmes as Michael Fayne, Peter Outerbridge as Calix Niklos, Laura Vandervoort as Mila Dubov, and Kyle Breitkopf as Dez, Jacky Lai as Kaylee Vo, and Kimberly-Sue Murray as Danika Dubov.

V-Wars will debut on Netflix on December 5, 2019.
