IFC cancels Stan Against Evil

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

Last year we were all hit with the weak news that STARZ had canceled ASH VS EVIL DEAD starring Bruce Campbell. And fans of horror-comedy TV shows will be sad again today to hear that yet another series is getting the ax. This time it's IFC's STAN AGAINST EVIL starring John McGinley. The show's creator Dana Gould broke the news over on his podcast The Dana Gould Hour, and our buddies over at B-D transcribed his comments.

Creator Dana Gould:

Stan Against Evil, I am sad to report, will not be returning for a fourth season. It had a great run of three seasons. It’s not coming back. Will it show up in some other form on some other network someday? Maybe. But right now, as we like to say, it’s dead as Kelsey’s nuts.

I’m very proud of the show and its fantastic cast: John McGinley, Janet Varney, Nate Mooney, Deborah Baker Jr., our great directors, Eban Schletter our great music person, Autonomous F/X, all the people that worked on the show. I’m leaving a lot of people out. This isn’t the official format for my thank you, but I thought everybody did a great job. The show’s on Hulu, you can enjoy it. It ain’t comin’ back anytime soon, but that is -as they say- showbiz, and I’m already working on some other cool crap that will hopefully come your way.

I guess it's good news to fans of the show that Gould seems to think the series might show up in some other form on some other network someday. Maybe. But until then, as Gould mentions above, the show’s currently streaming over on Hulu, so you can always head on over there and enjoy the episodes we do have. And we can always take solace in the fact that Gould is working on some other "cool crap" that will hopefully come our way.

Did you watch STAN AGAINST EVIL and are you sad to see it go? Let us know below!

The show's third season synopsis goes like this:

Stan and Evie back in Willard’s Mill dealing with the consequences of Stan traveling through time to save his dead wife Claire.  In doing so, he inadvertently opened a portal between the Land of the Living and the Land of the Dead…allowing evil forces to truly take over the town and even some of its inhabitants. Although always the skeptic at first, Stan must work with Evie to once more save the town – even if it means making a literal deal with the devil.

The show was created, written and executive produced by Dana Gould, with Tom Lassally also serving as executive producer. RadicalMedia produces the series with Frank Scherma and Justin Wilkes executive producing. Star John C. McGinley also serves as a producer. His co-stars include Janet Varney, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Scott Adsit, Maria Bamford, Matt Braunger, Eddie Pepitone, Deborah Baker Jr., Nate Mooney, and David Koechner.
