According to Variety, IFC Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Gaspar Noe’s ENTER THE VOID, a film which has been making the festival rounds a lot lately with much success and very positive word of mouth. But if you’re like me, you haven’t heard of ENTER THE VOID until today, so let’s take a gander what this badboy is all about.

Starring Nathaniel Brown, Paz de la Huerta, and Cyril Roy, ENTER THE VOID goes a little something like this: A drug-dealing teen is killed in Japan, after which he reappears as a ghost to watch over his sister.

I’ve heard this is a trippy movie, a movie that will blow your mind in its craziness, and a movie that is flat-out disturbing. And that’s just from the few people who decided to talk about it. Hell–even the film’s poster has a warning about how f*cked it is. Many are comparing it to David Lynch movies like ERASERHEAD and LOST HIGHWAY, and if it’s anything as bizarre as those two films… count me in!

The film premiers this week at the Sundance Film Festival, and will hit theaters and Video on Demand simultaneously (as IFC did with HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) later this year.
